G.A.M.E – (Grevillea Artea Moe Endeavour)
Formed in 1998, a group of interested artists met at the Bauer House Café Moe on a regular basis to discuss the possibility of displaying and promoting art works in the local area. This group formalised their ideas and thoughts to promote and encourage local art in the MOE area – thus the formation of MOaRTZ! One of the core objectives of Arts Billabong is to deliver an alternative educational and social program in which young people can grow and develop.
Tiles of Optimism – FOTO ProjectThis project was developed in conjunction with Regional Arts Victoria and Moartz inc. Twelve groups from the local district, including schools and adult education organisations designed and decorated and painted the 30x30cm ceramic tiles that were then ‘fired’. The theme was a “happy future – optimism for the future”. The tiles were displayed on the streets of Moe on New Years Eve 1999. Pyramids above each tile were set alight to then reveal the optimistic visions that were worked into the tiles. The tiles are kept in a safe and secure area until an appropriate viewing place can be negotiated in the Moe Area.
